Skills
In 2020, I graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology with a Major in Computer Science and a Minor in Business Administration. I have worked as a Corps Member with AmeriCorps NCCC, assisting non-profit organizations along the west coast. I was an Instructor and then Lead Instructor with iD Tech, a summer camp dedicated to giving children a meaningful STEM experience. I have experience working with teams on projects ranging from farming to data input. Both AmeriCorps NCCC and iD Tech have given me many amazing experiences working with many different kinds of teams and managers. Most recently I've worked with a team dedicated to streamlining Home owner insurance processes in the Rocket Companies. Then I worked with Ebsco Information Services on one of their Authorization and Authentication teams. Keep reading to get more detail!

Senior Design Projects
Project Cyclops
Using the Unity Game Engine, my team created an MVP for a VR application that would be used by the SDSM&T Geology Department. The application would allow students to view topographic maps in a virtual and interactive environment. Maps would contain GIS information that could be compiled into layers for the user to enable and disable. During my team on the team, I helped research and choose the framework (Unity) that the project would be developed on and implemented general motion sensitive controls including: Moving the player around the virtual environment, moving and scaling maps with in the room, implementing intuitive menu options to allow user to make selection in the application.
OpenAir
Using .NET, C#, SQL, and Azure, my team created a web application to allow pilots to schedule flights in and out of airbases. Currently, scheduling is maintained over the phone and on paper. OpenAir provided an easy to use system for pilots to view, schedule, and change flights at different air routes. OpenAir was capable of ensuring no conflicts between flights entering or leaving routes within 15 minutes of each other (standard procedure). From my graduating class, I was selected and asked to transfer to OpenAir to help develop the project and communicate between the development team and potential clients. During my team with OpenAir, I helped develop the relational database and its repository pattern. I also assisted in creating the tests for the repository pattern with NUnit.
Work Experience
EBSCO Information Services - Software Engineer II
July 2022 - Sept. 2024
As a Software Engineer at EBSCO Information Services, I contributed to a team focused on authentication and authorization. EBSCO is a leading provider of research databases, e-journal subscription management, and library technology solutions for a wide range of institutions worldwide. Despite my limited experience in this field, I was fortunate to receive hands-on mentorship from senior developers, which enabled me to quickly adapt.
I joined during a pivotal framework upgrade from RefArch 1.0 to 1.5, where my initial tasks involved replicating existing microservices and transitioning to new ones. Collaborating closely with senior developers, I played a key role in managing the complex coordination of this large-scale migration, which was a success despite our team consisting of just two senior and three new to the industry junior developers.
Following the migration, I contributed to refactoring our main authentication service into more modular, specialized services to handle the diverse authentication needs of our clients. One of my proudest achievements was helping to replace a costly external service by developing an in-house tool to manage critical data, including resource servers, scopes, roles, clients, and configurations. Despite tight deadlines, we successfully designed and implemented the new service, which played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our authentication system across global clients and internal teams.
Nexsys Technologies - Intern Software Developer
Nov. 2021 - Apr. 2022
I worked with Nexsys Tech and the Rocket Companies to maintain and developed their Clear HOI service. Clear HOI automates the process and obtaining your Evidence of Insurance. I worked to bring features into the product and help move Clear HOI forward in connecting with more insurers. I developed on the full stack, primarily working on the Backend with .NET with C# and Angular with TypeScript. My responsibilities included daily standup meetings with the team to discuss sprint progress, managing my stories and tasks, communicating with business and QA departments, and participating in Backlog refinement and future sprint planning.
Code for fun - Instructor
May 2021 - Nov. 2021
I instructed Python, Machine Learning, Data Analysis, Roblox, & Minecraft modding classes for campers ages 6-17. I taught over 160 students during the summer in zoom classrooms. The classes that I managed ranged in size from 4-17 students per week. I communicated with parents to answer questions outside of class and to give progress reports on each class. I created curriculum and helped to fine-tune lessons for these classes.
Tutoring
Jan. 2018 - Present
I tutor C++, Java, Python, and general computer programming strategies to college and high-school students. Most students are suffering from poor teaching quality in their university courses. I provide assistance by explaining topics covered insufficiently in class. This ranges from simple computer science 1 & 2 concepts (Input and output, if statements, loops, file I/O, etc) to more complex topics like advanced data structures and algorithm analysis. The biggest issue students have is knowing how to break down problems. Many assignments are general and vague, so I help students create plans of action to complete assignments on time. Giving them ideas and methods to take a problem and separate functionality into manageable sections.
iD Tech - Lead Instructor
June - Aug. 2017/2018
Instructed 13-18 year olds enrolled in C++, Python Java, and Cybersecurity & Cryptography. Worked with and taught 8 new students, every week for a total of 14 weeks. As a Lead Instructor, I helped coordinate campers and new instructors through daily activities. As a stand-in AssistantDirector, I helped manage camper medications and consulted with parents about classes and camp procedures.

My team completed maintenance of the campgrounds, preparing the site for the State Parks inspection. We also helped out in the office creating naturalist supplies for summer programming. The largest part of this project consisted of assisting with nature programs at the campsite, including leading weekly nature tours to teach campers about Redwood ecology. The team worked with children between kindergarten and high school, going on nature tours, examining local wildlife, and learning about the Red Wood Forest environment.
